FoxT Announces Additional Windows Platform Coverage for BoKS Access Control for Servers
Mountain View, CA - January 11, 2010 - Fox Technologies, Incorporated, (FoxT), a leading provider of complete Enterprise Access Management solutions, today announced additional platform coverage for their BoKS Access Control for Windows Servers solution to include support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 (32 & 64 bit) and Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) environments.
"Since the first release of BoKS Access Control for Windows Servers in 2008, we continue to see that the process of enforcing and identifying potentially non-compliant access attempts is very difficult for many organizations," stated Per Eliasson, Vice-President of Engineering at FoxT. "In particular, control over local administrator accounts is highly inefficient, and compliance controls to verify the use of local accounts are very weak. We often see situations where Windows security support teams are spending significant time trawling through Windows Event Logs to find privileged activities that may have taken place days or weeks in the past. The deployment of BoKS Access Control for Servers provides fine-grained authentication and authorization controls, enforced at the point in time when the user attempts to transition to a privileged function. The centralized, proactive approach to access controls makes Windows security administration and auditing incredibly easier and helps organizations achieve regulatory compliance."
Using BoKS Access Control for Windows Servers, organizations can centrally configure, administer, and monitor their user accounts and ensure enforcement of fine-grained authentication and authorization policies across multi-vendor UNIX, Linux, and Windows domains. The BoKS solution also consolidates the user activity logs from across diverse domains for simplified auditing and regulatory compliance.
Specifically applicable to Windows Server deployments, BoKS Access Control for Servers enables organizations to:
- Apply corporate security policy to the local Windows Server administrator and the locally installed software (e.g. backup) management accounts not covered by Active Directory
- Control identity switching from Active Directory domain accounts to Windows local administrator or privileged software accounts
- Import and gain control of local Windows groups not covered by Active Directory
- Provide centrally managed, individual SSH services on Windows Servers
- Leverage an enhanced "runas" command, enabling centralized authorization control of staff executing commands with privilege
- Implement automatic challenges for multiple factors of authentication for privileged login (e.g. via the console or Secure RDP) or command execution
"The delivery of support for additional Microsoft Windows Server platforms is in keeping with our goal to provide the most complete enterprise access management solutions," said Subhash Tantry, CEO at FoxT. "The more we can enable organizations to centralize the administration, authentication, authorization, and audit of access controls across diverse platforms including Windows, UNIX, Linux and virtualized environments within their enterprise, the more we can help them control IT administration costs, reduce the risk of insider fraud, and simplify regulatory compliance."
